In this series of “MyHospitul Effect” we will be addressing how you can improve Doctor Visit Certainty and Reducing Long Appointment wait in our hospitals using MyHospitul.
Statistically speaking, one of the most predominant reasons why people do self-medication, especially in Africa, is due to the uncertainty that is usually associated with seeing a medical professional in the shortest possible time and the associated long queue of appointment one has to join to eventually get to see a Doctor.
Recently, we received a story from a friend that booked an appointment with a Dermatologist in one of the top Teaching Hospitals in Nigeria. He cleared his schedule for the day and set out to see the Dermatologist, on arrival, he was told that the Dermatologist won’t be available until the following week. The day eventually ended with him being disappointed and not accomplishing much as a result.
The traditional process with getting a medical checkup or appointment is usually seen in two scenarios. The first is via a direct and physical representation of the Patient and the case at the hospital. The second scenario is via online registration process and booking with the hospital which eventually goes through the hospital ICT team before it is processed and communicated to the respective Doctor or Doctors available.
This approach to Appointment scheduling is not so efficient for many reasons. Some of them include the following:
Traditional appointment scheduling makes it difficult for patients to plan their visit adequately, thus making it difficult to visit the hospital at will, except in a case of an emergency.
Also, it increases the time spent to see a Doctor and this is basically as a result of the time patients spend during the administrative procedures and clearance. They are asked to fill forms and register with the hospital. Even when they are eventually referred to a doctor, they are asked to explain the reason for their visit or give details of their medical situation from the beginning.
Though scenario 2 has its advantage as it reduces the time spent between the patient, the hospital administrative procedures and the actual appointment with the Doctor, though if not properly automated may become cumbersome for management and will likely increase the communication line for Appointment scheduling.
MyHospitul Technology efficiently addresses Doctor Visitation Certainty, and reduces long appointment wait time.
In other to address Doctor visitation certainty MyHospitul embeds a Realtime automated Appointment scheduling system where a patient can schedule for an appointment with a Doctor and gets to monitor the entire Appointment process.
MyHospitul automates real-time notification system throughout the appointment lifecycle;
MyHospitul sends notifications to the Doctor informing him/her of a new appointment scheduled for a time.
MyHospitul notifies the patient when the Doctor sees their appointments and sends a feedback mail and notification immediately the appointment is accepted or rescheduled depending on the Doctor’s calendar.
MyHospitul also notifies all hospital designated personnel when appointment is accepted by a Doctor.
This process occurs within few minutes after the appointment is scheduled. Great right?
In the same vein, MyHospitul addresses the issue of Administrative inconveniences patients go through in hospital queues. Immediately the appointment has been booked and accepted by the Doctor, a notification is sent to the Hospital administrator.
MyHospitul notification will contain the corresponding information and personal details about the patient and his/her health status. This makes it both easy for the admin personnel and the patient when they visit the Hospital.
MyHospitul Effect is on a mission to improve traditional healthcare management system, increase the efficiency of any hospital scheduling process and give everyone access to professional medical care.
