MyHospitul Effect 4.0: Beyond Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

HealthAide

Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in the simplest terms, is a substitute for manual filing (storing medical information on paper). Due to the disadvantages associated with storing information on paper, implementing a better means of documentation is important for future referencing and analysis.

Prior to the 1960s, before the advent of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR), all medical information, including diagnosis, lab test and patients’ information were filed manually using sheets of paper bound with a patient’s name or a unique identity number. These records were referenced by a doctor during a medical appointment to understand the patient’s medical history before diagnosis.

Between 1970 to early 2000, the need to convert medical records to electronic format was globally recognized and as such, many hospitals have converted their health records to electronic format. An Electronic medical record at this point came with numerous advantages and advanced the medical field, improved diagnosis, mitigated unnecessary health mistakes and helped doctors better understand their patients.

Undoubtedly, the health industry has significantly benefitted from the conversion of paper records to electronic equivalents. However, with huge advances in technology (introduction of cloud computing, sensor transmission and ML powered tools), wider possibilities now exist with EMR. Thus, digitizing of paper files should not be our final bus stop.

At MyHospitul we believe EMR is just the first step in transitioning to a Digital Health system and not the only step. The ability to integrate all the information gathered from an EMR, create substantial insight, make critical medical or business decision, share the information and collaborate easily should be the goal.

Beyond EMR we should look at creating a Hospital Management and Collaboration System (HMCS) that converts medical records to e-format, integrates social, physical, and medical history, utilizes analytics and machine learning to create actionable insight from the data and shares valuable information across the hospital system when needed. This will improve our medical processes, increase efficiency, reduce mistakes, reduce time wasted in accessing the right data and reduce the cost of healthcare.

MyHospitul HMCS Solution addresses this improvement. We have developed a software solution that simplifies EMR, automates continuous acquisition of medical records and eases sharing of relevant medical information across a hospital system to foster efficient collaboration.

Value Comparison: MyHospitul’s HMCS vs Traditional EMR

1. Both HMCS and EMR leverages the conversion of health records to electronic format. Electronic format makes it easy to access valuable health information and makes sharing it easy.

2. Both HMCS and EMR helps minimize errors made during medical diagnosis by providing access to relevant information.

3. HMCS leverages the acquisition of continuous health information automatically. Most EMR structures require manual effort of a hospital personnel to input data at intervals.

4. HMCS automates the entire medical appointment life cycle from booking to discharge of a patient.

5. HMCS automates the sharing of medical information and simplifies collaboration.

6. HMCS uses ML and other analytic tools to extract useful information from a patient’s medical records and share such information during a medical appointment to assist the doctor in making better diagnosis.

Today, we see EMR/EHR as a secured and effective means of interfacing with patients, and hence, have experienced increased medical accuracy and effective doctor-patient communication. Think of the improved efficiency MyHospitul HMCS will bring to your hospital - you get all the benefits of the traditional EMR and much more. Based on our research the right HMCS will boost medical performance by over 80% and increase revenue generation substantially.

MyHospitul HMCS makes transitioning to a Digital System easy and fast.
